雨が上がったあと、窓には街の光が細かくにじんでいた。
After the rain stopped, the lights of the town blurred softly across the window.
私はカーテンを半分だけ開けて、誰もいない通りをしばらく見下ろしていた。
I opened the curtain halfway and looked down at the empty street for a while.
この部屋で過ごした時間は、思っていたよりも静かに私の中へ沈んでいた。
The time I had spent in this room had sunk into me more quietly than I had realized.
机の上には、返しそびれた本と、飲みかけの冷たい紅茶が残っていた。
On the desk, there was a book I had failed to return and a glass of cold tea I hadn't finished.
どちらも、明日になればただの片づけるべきものになるのだろう。
By tomorrow, both of them would probably become nothing more than things I had to put away.
それでも今夜だけは、それらが私をここに引き止めているように見えた。
Still, for tonight, they seemed to be keeping me here.
窓を閉めると、部屋の中に雨の匂いだけが少し残った。
When I closed the window, only a faint smell of rain remained in the room.

On the desk, there was a book I had failed to return and a glass of cold tea I hadn't finished.
By tomorrow, both of them would probably become nothing more than things I had to put away.
Still, for tonight, they seemed to be keeping me here.
When I closed the window, only a faint smell of rain remained in the room.
