駅裏の自販機には、小さなメモが一枚貼られていた。
A small note was attached to the vending machine behind the station.
そこには、「つり銭が出にくいです」と丸い字で書かれていた。
It said, in round handwriting, "The change doesn't always come out easily."
私は財布の中の小銭を見て、少し迷った。
I looked at the coins in my wallet and hesitated for a moment.
そのとき、近くにいた男の人が自販機の下をのぞき込んだ。
Just then, a man nearby looked under the vending machine.
「たぶん、昨日の僕の百円玉です」
"That's probably my hundred-yen coin from yesterday."
彼はそう言って笑い、メモの端をまっすぐに直した。
He said that with a smile and straightened the edge of the note.
私は別の自販機まで歩きながら、その丸い字を思い出していた。
As I walked to another vending machine, I kept thinking about that round handwriting.
