会社に忘れた傘

Just after I left the office, I realized that I had left my umbrella beside my desk.

It was a little too troublesome to go back, and the rain was too heavy to run to the station.

As I stood at the entrance of the building, unsure what to do, a junior coworker held out a small folding umbrella.

"I think we can both fit under it until we get to the station."

My shoulder got a little wet, but strangely, I didn't mind.

By the time we reached the station, I could hear the footsteps beside me more clearly than the rain.

The next day, I looked at the umbrella beside my desk and smiled a little.

会社を出たところで、私は傘を机の横に置いたままだと気づいた。

戻るには少し面倒で、駅まで走るには雨が強すぎた。

ビルの入口で迷っていると、後輩が小さな折りたたみ傘を差し出した。

「駅までなら、二人でも入れると思います」

肩が少し濡れたけれど、不思議と嫌ではなかった。

駅に着くころには、雨音よりも隣の足音の方がはっきり聞こえていた。

次の日、私は机の横の傘を見て、少しだけ笑った。
