At the coin laundry at night, only the sound of washing machines turning filled the room.

I sat in front of the dryer and watched my clothes dancing behind the glass.

On the chair next to me, a man who seemed to be coming home from work sat with his eyes closed.

When the dryer stopped, he let out a small breath and stood up.

"It feels a little relieving when something comes to an end, doesn't it?"

Instead of answering, I smiled and took out my laundry.

Holding the still-warm shirts, I felt as if the night road had become a little shorter.

夜のコインランドリーには、洗濯機の回る音だけが響いていた。

私は乾燥機の前に座り、ガラスの向こうで服が舞うのを見ていた。

隣の椅子には、仕事帰りらしい男の人が目を閉じて座っていた。

乾燥機が止まると、彼は小さく息を吐いて立ち上がった。

「終わるものがあると、少し安心しますね」

私は返事のかわりに笑って、自分の洗濯物を取り出した。
